SEASONS OF THE SOUL

Isn’t is strange, that our spiritual journeys
start with death?
It is like fall, when the leaves
and flowers die.
We find our loving Saviour dying on a tree,
to pay for our sins.
His blood was shed for you and me,
stripped of life as the leaves of fall.

Winter follows fall so closely
there seems hardly any hesitation.
For the child who would be cleansed
from sin, it is the same.
Our sins are death, but His precious blood
was shed for us;
Upon that tree and washes us
white as snow.

Spring follows the winter
and brings with it new life.
So it is for the sinner
who comes to the cross.
With their sins washed away
in the blood of our Saviour.
New life bursts forth with joy
and blossoms like the earth.

Summer follows the spring
and brings new works and fruits.
The fruits of the Spirit work to bring about
the Kingdom of God.
To bring Good News to all,
prepare for the wedding feast of the Lamb.
Before this season comes to an end
all who are invited, go in to the feast.

All of these steps, seem to me,
to be reflected by the seasons of the year.
They lead to new life and salvation
found in my precious Saviour.
Who died on Calvary’s tree
with so much love for you and me.
The Word is out, come one and all,
journey through the seasons of the soul.
