WAITING PATIENTLY

Kneeling quietly and patiently amongst the flowers
Waiting for what seems like hours
For a butterfly to come and alight
To take a break from its winged flight

Trying to capture the beauty it brings
So wondrous and fragile upon its wings
And yet so full of grace and power
Carrying its beauty from flower to flower

Kneeling there I am reminded of another
Full of grace, beauty and power, my Saviour
He came to live and die to set the sinner free
A sinner dead in sin, a sinner like me

To be set free, plunge beneath the crimson flow
And sins of scarlet become white as snow
For the power of His blood shed
Is grace and mercy flowing as He bled

In His death new life for us is found
And like Him, death cannot hold us in the ground
For after three days He arose from the dead
These are the thoughts going through my head

So as I kneel there waiting patiently
I reflect on my Saviour and what He did for me
And I thank my Father in heaven above
For sending my sweet Lord in love

And when the butterfly finally alights
I carefully move to get the picture just right
But the beauty of the butterfly cannot compare
To the beauty of my Saviour I found, kneeling there
