Birdsong
BIRDSONG

I hear the sound of traffic as it passes by
I hear the sound of a plane as it flies thru the darkened sky
But then I hear the sound of birdsong in the night
And I wonder when  will it take flight

I wonder why this bird sings so early
The dawn is still hours away, surely
I think this bird, he has it all wrong
It is way too early to start his song

Then I get to thinking as I study the stars in the sky
Maybe it is not so early as I think of why
His song cuts through the darkness
Could it be he sings, to remind us?

He says look at me, this is what I should do
I sing to give thanks and welcome, how about you?
Should you not give thanks to the One who made you too?
And I pondered the question as off he flew

As I thought, I heard more birds starting to sing
I knew then, I should be praising my King
For He came to set me free
The price He paid, on Calvary’s tree

So here it is,  before dawn’s early light
And I lift my praises to my Saviour in the quiet of the night
You my precious Saviour give new life, it is right to give You
praise
And my heart and soul, my voice  and my hands, to You, will
I raise in praise!
